Qualifications and knowledge
- Minimum qualification is listed as General Diploma or Bachelor of Technology (BTech).
- Knowledge of hazard identification and risk assessment.
Safety management
- Conduct Job Safety Analyses for transformer installation, cable pulling, and switchyard gantry erection; identify and mitigate hazards.
- Manage and audit the Permit-to-Work system and verify authorization for energized or restricted areas.
- Enforce Lockout/Tagout procedures and oversee electrical safety compliance, including voltage-appropriate PPE inspection and testing.
- Verify temporary grounding and earthing systems during construction.
- Monitor excavation and trenching for grounding-grid installation, including shoring and utility detection.
Training and investigations
- Conduct site-specific safety inductions and lead daily toolbox talks focused on high-risk activities.
- Investigate incidents and near misses using Root Cause Analysis; identify corrective and preventive actions to improve site safety.
