The employer seeks a precise, analytical Senior Cost Controller for project budgets, financial tracking, and cost risk analysis across construction projects.
The role establishes budget baselines, monitors expenses against forecasts, implements cost-control procedures, and reports financial results to executive management.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and maintain baseline budgets using tender calculations, contractual agreements, and WBS/CBS structures.
- Monitor site commitments, actual costs, equipment hire, materials, and labour against baseline budgets to identify variances.
- Perform monthly CPI and SPI analyses and prepare EAC and ETC reports.
- Prepare monthly cash flow forecasts, monitor inflows and outflows, and reconcile site expenditure with finance teams.
- Evaluate the financial impact of scope changes, variations, and subcontractor claims with Quantity Surveyors and Commercial Managers.
- Audit subcontractor interim payment applications, purchase orders, and supplier invoices before payment approval.
- Produce monthly CVRs, financial progress reports, and risk exposure dashboards for project leadership.
Required qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or Finance/Accounting.
- 7–10+ years of dedicated project cost-control experience in civil, commercial building, or large-scale infrastructure construction.
- Advanced MS Excel expertise in financial modelling, pivot tables, complex formulas, and macros.
- Strong proficiency in SAP, Oracle Primavera Unifier, or PRISM.
- Deep understanding of Earned Value Management and Cost Breakdown Structures.
- Strong knowledge of construction financial processes, including CVR, invoicing, retention, and commitments.
- Excellent analytical mindset, commercial acumen, and cross-departmental communication skills.
Software proficiency
- Familiarity with Primavera P6 to align cost profiles with project progress.
