About the role

People leadership

• Lead a cross-functional team to design, develop, QA, deploy, and maintain the payments platform.
• Mentor and grow engineers through regular one-to-ones, actionable feedback, and stretch opportunities.
• Build a safe, accountable culture that combines high standards with psychological safety.
• Clarify intent and guardrails, remove obstacles, and enable team autonomy.
• Address performance or behavioral concerns directly and empathetically.

Technical leadership and delivery

• Pair on complex problems, lead design sessions, and help resolve critical issues.
• Make technical decisions and model engineering excellence through constructive code reviews.
• Promote responsible, secure AI tool adoption across the software development lifecycle.
• Guide architecture toward cloud-native and event-driven systems and explore technology improvements.
• Translate business requirements into scalable solutions with Product and peer teams.
• Unblock work, reduce technical debt, streamline processes, and maintain reliable delivery.
• Lead incident management as needed and promote resilient services and operational excellence.

Essential qualifications

• Proven experience leading and developing high-performing software engineering teams.
• Hands-on experience writing clean, scalable, performant, high-quality code.
• Deep expertise in modern software engineering practices, cloud platforms, and DevOps, including test and deployment automation.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Collaborative mindset with a passion for learning and problem-solving.

Preferred qualifications

• Background supporting highly transactional, highly available, low-latency systems is preferred.
• Experience with C#/.NET and MSSQL is advantageous.
