About the Team and Role

Engineering Responsibilities

• Build scalable backend services and public REST APIs using Java, plus internal gRPC APIs.
• Create system designs, lead design decisions, and collaborate with other senior engineers.
• Develop comprehensive automated tests, including unit, integration, end-to-end, concurrency, load, and performance tests.
• Improve scalability, stability, monitoring, healing, continuous integration, and deployment.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to deliver new features.
• Review code, mentor junior and mid-level engineers, and promote engineering best practices.

Reliability and Technical Leadership

• Troubleshoot complex production issues, author root-cause analyses, and ensure lasting performance and reliability.
• Evaluate competing technologies and advise the team on solution trade-offs.
• Maintain design documents, runbooks, change management documents, and readiness plans.
• Provide live-site production support and drive rapid incident resolution and continuous improvement.
• Lead cross-team projects as a single-threaded owner or tech lead and unblock other engineers.

Required Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering.
• 5–8 years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong data structures, algorithms, object-oriented design, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience designing internet-scale services for scalability, availability, security, and reliability.
• Backend development proficiency with Java or C#, Spring Boot, RESTful APIs, ODATA, and SQL.
• Ability to leverage Cursor AI, Kiro, and GitHub Copilot for development, documentation, and code quality.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a collaborative and empathetic mindset.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in computer science or software engineering.
• Experience with event-driven architecture, Kafka, card payments, cloud-native architecture, Docker, or Kubernetes.
• Awareness of API security and PCI DSS compliance requirements.
• Familiarity with mobile development, production AI solutions, AI agents, multi-agent systems, vector databases, and responsible AI.
