Software Engineering Lead - Python - AI

Role overview

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain backend services and distributed systems; lead architecture and high-performance solution delivery.
• Translate business requirements into technical solutions with stakeholders, product owners, and architects.
• Design and optimize APIs, integrations, data pipelines, asynchronous processing, and event-driven architectures.
• Improve engineering practices, CI/CD, DevOps, testing, observability, deployment efficiency, and operational excellence.
• Select distributed computing patterns and cloud services; resolve production issues through root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Contribute to roadmaps and architecture decisions; collaborate across application, infrastructure, security, data, and operations teams.
• Maintain technical documentation, diagrams, implementation guides, and runbooks; follow Agile/SAFe and governance processes.

Required qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
• 4+ years of software engineering experience focused on backend systems and distributed computing.
• 3+ years of hands-on Python development for scalable, secure enterprise applications.
• Hands-on DevOps experience with CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, automated testing, monitoring, and observability.
• Experience with AI-assisted development tools, including GitHub Copilot and generative AI solutions.
• Experience with RESTful APIs, asynchronous processing, integrations, Kubernetes, Docker, microservices, and event-driven systems.
• Experience collaborating with business stakeholders and working in Agile environments.
• Experience operating highly available, fault-tolerant, scalable systems; working knowledge of Java.
• Cloud-native development with Azure, AWS, or GCP; Azure is preferred.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills for business-critical production systems.

Preferred qualifications

• Experience with large-scale data processing, streaming, high-performance computing, PostgreSQL, NoSQL, or data-intensive applications.
• Healthcare, pharmacy benefit management, or other regulated-industry experience is preferred.
• Mentoring, observability, incident management, reliability engineering, enterprise architecture, and globally distributed enterprise-team experience are preferred.
