  • Refactor and optimize code, memory, and performance; standardize interfaces for long-term scalability.
  • Work with Product Management to shape technical user stories and contribute to Agile processes and customer-focused engineering decisions.
  • Resolve concurrency, memory-management, and low-level hardware-software interface problems in Windows and Linux embedded environments.
  • Collaborate with frontend, vision engineering, and QA automation teams for integrated end-to-end delivery.
  • Build fault-tolerant software for 24/7 factory automation; apply defensive coding and memory-safety practices, maintain GoogleTest unit tests, and lead peer reviews.
  • Mentor junior developers and contribute ideas to the technical roadmap and product evolution.

Must-have qualifications

  • 5+ years of professional software development experience focused heavily on C++ application development.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Strong modern C++ skills, including STL, object-oriented programming, and data structures.
  • Experience with multithreaded and concurrent systems, including race conditions, mutexes, and asynchronous logic.
  • Comfort with hardware-software interfaces and essential TCP/UDP socket programming experience.
  • Experience with Git, CI/CD development environments, and unit-testing frameworks such as GoogleTest.
  • Excellent written and verbal English proficiency, collaboration skills, and ability to converse effectively with AI agents.

Desirable qualifications

  • A product-first mindset and passion for craftsmanship are desirable.
  • Familiarity with 3D imaging, machine vision, or robotics is desirable.
  • Experience with embedded Linux or RTOS environments is desirable.
  • Experience with C# or Python for tools and testing is desirable.
  • Interest or experience using AI tools such as Claude, Gemini, or Copilot is desirable.

Compensation

  • Salary range is $93,000–$139,000 CAD, plus eligibility for profit-sharing program participation after successful completion of probation, based on business performance.

Workplace

  • Hybrid position based at the Burnaby, BC headquarters; the collaborative office schedule is Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
  • Preference is given to local candidates able to work in the office on those days. Relocation assistance and immigration sponsorship are not available.

Benefits

  • Health coverage includes dental, vision, and prescription drugs, with premiums paid in full.
  • Work-life benefits include hybrid work, flextime, and paid time off; growth support includes annual education funding and performance reviews.
  • Additional perks include snacks and drinks, team events, tenure awards, an on-site fitness facility, sports courts, and wellness initiatives.
