Role overview

Join the Software Operations team as a Build & Test Automation Engineer supporting Gocator smart sensors and GoPxL software.

Builds run on edge devices in production environments, so reliable releases and testing on real hardware are important.

This is a hybrid role with three days per week in the Burnaby office; reports to the Software Operations Team Lead.

What you will do

  • Maintain Bamboo CI pipelines and a custom Python build system; use Docker-based build environments and help prepare a future Bitbucket Pipelines migration.
  • Manage cross-architecture C++ builds with GCC and MSVC and resolve compiler, linker, and toolchain problems.
  • Improve build and test feedback times through caching, parallelization, and other optimizations.
  • Build and maintain test rigs that deploy software to physical Gocators and run tests.
  • Integrate Google Test, pytest, and Jest and automate appropriate manual testing.
  • Manage versioning, artifact publishing, and SBOM generation; help shape code-signing plans.
  • Integrate SAST and SCA scanning into every build for Cyber Resilience Act readiness.
  • Analyze build and test failures with AI tools, create and validate fixes, and coordinate review and merging.
  • Use LLM tools for scripting, debugging, log analysis, and code review; build reusable agent skills and extend ticket-to-merge automation.

Required qualifications

  • 5+ years working as a Build/Release Developer or Automation Developer focused on CI/CD infrastructure and pipeline automation.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field, or comparable experience.
  • Strong Python for build tooling and test automation, and practical C++ skills for compiler, linker, and product-code issues.
  • Experience with GCC cross-compilation toolchains, Linux build systems, and Docker-based build environments.
  • Experience with Git and at least one CI/CD platform.
  • Ability to take work from requirements and design through testing and delivery.
  • Practical use of AI tools while maintaining production-grade output.

Desirable experience

  • SAST/SCA tooling and secure SDLC or regulatory requirements such as the EU Cyber Resilience Act.
  • Large-scale build caching, including ccache, sccache, remote caches, or Conan/vcpkg binary caching.
  • Embedded, resource-constrained development environments and industrial vision or metrology.

Compensation

  • Salary range is $75,200–$107,160, with eligibility for profit sharing after successful completion of probation, subject to business performance.

Benefits

  • Health coverage, dental, vision, and prescription drug premiums are paid for employees and their families.
  • Benefits include hybrid work, flextime, paid time off, education support, wellness initiatives, and an on-site fitness facility.
