Role overview

Key responsibilities

• Oversee material evaluation, selection, testing, and quality assurance across civil, structural, architectural, interior, landscape, façade, pool, furnishing, equipment, and specialist packages.
• Review submittals, specifications, method statements, test reports, compliance documents, samples, mock-ups, and prototypes.
• Check materials against project specifications, design intent, regulations, international standards, brand standards, and design guidelines.
• Coordinate stakeholders to resolve technical issues and obtain timely approvals; assess alternatives for cost, durability, sustainability, and performance.
• Monitor testing, inspections, and quality control; analyze results, recommend corrective actions, and investigate failures and non-conformities.
• Maintain material records and approval registers; support design, procurement, and construction phases and ensure approved materials match site implementation.
• Coordinate material selection across disciplines, attend technical meetings, and manage multiple projects and packages to schedules.
• Identify emerging materials and technologies and provide technical guidance to Material Engineers and team members.
• Ensure compliance with company procedures, confidentiality requirements, communication protocols, and quality management systems.

Qualifications and requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
• Significant relevant experience in technical engineering, material engineering, material approvals, or technical office functions in construction or real estate development.
• A combination of contractor and consultant experience is essential.
• Strong knowledge of construction materials, specifications, testing, quality assurance, and material compliance.
• Proven experience reviewing submittals, technical documents, laboratory reports, samples, mock-ups, and approvals.
• Exposure to residential, commercial, hospitality, high-rise, healthcare, and special projects is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of ISO and ASTM standards, UAE building regulations, and local authority requirements.
• Experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders; ability to assess alternatives, solve material issues, and recommend practical, cost-effective solutions.
