Job Purpose
The Senior Oracle EBS Technical Consultant is responsible for designing, developing, enhancing, integrating, and supporting Oracle E-Business Suite technical solutions across implementation, rollout, enhancement, and support projects.
The role requires strong hands-on technical expertise in Oracle EBS development tools, integrations, reporting, workflows, conversions, and system enhancements.
The consultant will work closely with business users, functional consultants, and technical teams to translate business requirements into reliable, scalable, and best-practice-based Oracle EBS solutions while ensuring smooth delivery, production stability, and proper documentation.
Oracle EBS Technical Development & Support
- Design, develop, enhance, and support Oracle E-Business Suite technical components across various business modules.
- Work on Oracle Forms, OAF, BI Publisher, Oracle Reports, Oracle Workflow, AME, SQL*Loader, Open Interfaces, Oracle APIs, AOL concepts, and Forms Personalization.
- Deliver technical solutions in line with Oracle EBS standards, project requirements, and business needs.
- Ensure solutions are upgrade-safe, maintainable, and aligned with Oracle EBS best practices.
- Use standard APIs and Open Interfaces wherever applicable and avoid direct base-table updates.
Requirements Gathering & Technical Solution Design
- Work independently with business users and functional consultants to gather and analyze requirements.
- Translate business and functional requirements into technical designs, development specifications, and system solutions.
- Provide technical recommendations and solution options based on Oracle EBS capabilities and best practices.
- Collaborate effectively within an integrated project delivery model.
End-to-End Technical Delivery
- Deliver full-cycle technical activities, including:
- Technical design
- Development
- Unit testing
- SIT/UAT support
- Production deployment
- Post-go-live production support
- Support implementation, rollout, enhancement, and support projects.
- Ensure assigned technical deliverables are completed with high quality and within agreed timelines.
Troubleshooting & Production Support
- Troubleshoot and resolve production issues across Oracle EBS technical components.
- Perform root-cause analysis, log analysis, debugging, and performance tuning.
- Support governed data fixes when required, following proper controls and approvals.
- Investigate and resolve issues related to reports, interfaces, conversions, workflows, forms, OAF pages, and integrations.
- Ensure production stability and provide timely support for business-critical issues.
Reporting & BI Publisher
- Develop and support BI Publisher / XML Publisher reports, including data extracts, layouts, and templates.
- Maintain and support legacy Oracle Reports where applicable.
- Ensure reporting solutions meet business requirements, data accuracy standards, and performance expectations.
- Troubleshoot report failures, performance issues, and output formatting problems.
Interfaces & Integrations
- Design, develop, and support inbound and outbound integrations using Oracle EBS standard approaches.
- Work with Open Interfaces, Oracle public APIs, service enablement, and controlled data exchange patterns.
- Support integration with internal and external systems.
- Troubleshoot interface errors, data issues, and integration failures.
- Ensure integrations follow secure, controlled, and maintainable practices.
Data Conversion & Migration
- Perform data conversion and migration activities using SQL*Loader, staging tables, validation, reconciliation, and controlled loading processes.
- Load data through Open Interfaces and Oracle public APIs.
- Ensure migrated data is accurate, complete, validated, and aligned with business rules.
- Prepare conversion scripts, validation reports, and reconciliation outputs.
Enhancements & Customizations
- Deliver Oracle EBS enhancements using upgrade-safe approaches, including custom objects, extensions, and personalization where suitable.
- Apply proper logging, error handling, deployment controls, and technical standards.
- Ensure all customizations are properly tested, documented, and maintainable.
- Support continuous improvement of Oracle EBS technical solutions.
Oracle Forms
- Develop, maintain, and troubleshoot Oracle Forms.
- Work with triggers, libraries, compilation, deployment, and Forms Personalization.
- Support form-level customizations and issue resolution.
- Ensure Oracle Forms developments follow EBS standards and deployment discipline.
Oracle Workflow & AME
- Build, extend, maintain, and troubleshoot Oracle Workflow components.
- Work with Workflow Builder, notifications, monitoring, retries, and issue resolution.
- Configure and support AME rules where applicable.
- Troubleshoot workflow failures and ensure business process continuity.
Oracle Application Framework (OAF)
- Develop and support OAF components using JDeveloper.
- Work on OAF personalization and extensions, including Controller, AM, and VO where applicable.
- Support diagnostics, logging, and troubleshooting for EBS self-service pages.
- Provide technical support for pages such as iProcurement, SSHR, and other EBS self-service modules where applicable.
Integrated SOA Gateway (ISG)
- Expose and consume EBS services through ISG using REST and SOAP.
- Enable and publish service definitions for PL/SQL APIs.
- Manage security, grants, and service access configurations.
- Test services using tools such as Postman and SOAP UI.
- Troubleshoot service invocation, connectivity, and integration issues.
Documentation & Handover
- Prepare and maintain complete technical documentation, including:
- Technical design documents
- Development specifications
- Deployment notes
- Test evidence
- Operational handover documents
- Ensure documentation is clear, accurate, and aligned with project and support requirements.
- Support knowledge transfer to business, functional, technical, and support teams.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
Experience
- Minimum 10 years of experience in Oracle ERP / Oracle E-Business Suite technical consulting.
- Strong experience across Oracle EBS implementation, rollout, enhancement, and support projects.
- Proven experience delivering end-to-end Oracle EBS technical solutions.
- Experience working with business users, functional consultants, technical teams, and project stakeholders.
- Strong experience in production support, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.
