Senior Material Engineer (Fit-Out Manufacturing)

Job purpose

Key responsibilities

• Review specifications, drawings, BOQs, and material schedules to identify material needs.
• Identify suitable fit-out materials, finishes, hardware, fixtures, fittings, and accessories.
• Prepare and coordinate submittals, datasheets, samples, and compliance documents for approval.
• Source compliant, cost-effective materials with procurement teams, suppliers, and subcontractors; evaluate alternatives and value-engineering options.
• Maintain material schedules, procurement trackers, and delivery plans; coordinate with production, design, engineering, and site teams.
• Monitor compliance, consumption, wastage, stock, and inventory; conduct supplier and material evaluations.
• Coordinate QA/QC inspections, documentation, non-conformances, and corrective actions.
• Maintain approval and procurement records; manage availability, lead times, supply risks, cost estimation, budgeting, and cost control.
• Ensure compliance with project requirements, company procedures, and applicable health, safety, and environmental standards.

Qualifications and experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Materials Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Minimum 5–8 years of relevant experience in material engineering, procurement coordination, or material management in fit-out, joinery, interior manufacturing, or construction.
• Relevant UAE or GCC experience is mandatory.
• Strong knowledge of fit-out and joinery materials, finishes, hardware, fixtures, fittings, and manufacturing requirements.
• Experience preparing technical material submittals, evaluating supplier proposals, and coordinating approvals.
• Familiarity with material specifications, BOQs, technical drawings, and quality standards.
• Experience in cost optimization, value engineering, material planning, and inventory control.
• Proficiency in MS Excel and material tracking systems; ERP systems knowledge is an advantage.
• Strong analytical, organizational, negotiation, coordination, and communication skills; able to work across teams.
