Senior HSE Engineer

Role overview

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and monitor HSE policies, procedures, and programs across project sites.
• Ensure compliance with UAE regulations, client requirements, and international safety standards.
• Conduct inspections, audits, and risk assessments; identify hazards and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
• Review Risk Assessments, Method Statements, and Job Safety Analysis.
• Investigate accidents, incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions; prepare detailed reports and monitor corrective actions.
• Conduct HSE meetings, toolbox talks, safety inductions, and training; promote compliance among employees, subcontractors, and visitors.
• Coordinate HSE matters with project managers, engineers, supervisors, and subcontractors.
• Maintain reports, records, checklists, monitor emergency preparedness and PPE compliance, and participate in drills.
• Provide HSE guidance to project teams and support safety-culture and HSE improvement initiatives.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field.
• At least 8 years of relevant HSE experience; construction-industry experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of UAE HSE regulations, construction safety practices, and risk management.
• Experience conducting inspections, audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
• Strong HSE documentation and reporting knowledge; proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Strong communication, leadership, interpersonal, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities; able to work under pressure and manage multiple project requirements.

Preferred qualifications

• UAE construction experience is highly preferred.
• NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent HSE certification is preferred; examples include NEBOSH International General Certificate and IOSH Managing Safely.
• Relevant engineering or HSE professional certification, experience with consultants, clients, subcontractors, and government authorities, and knowledge of ISO 45001 or other management systems are preferred.
