Senior Design Systems Designer

Role overview

Design system and engineering

• Build and evolve components, patterns, multi-tier tokens, guidelines, and documentation.
• Audit products, identify inconsistencies, establish baseline components, and plan systematic improvements.
• Maintain a token pipeline; enable theming, dark mode, and design-to-code consistency.
• Improve engineering handoffs and reusable component libraries with engineering partners.

Documentation, governance, and adoption

• Maintain practical Markdown documentation, including usage guidelines, specifications, and decision notes.
• Use AI-assisted workflows to accelerate design, documentation, and iteration.
• Establish governance, contribution guidelines, accessibility standards aligned with WCAG 2.2, and responsive patterns.
• Drive adoption through workshops, office hours, and enablement; measure adoption and efficiency.

Product design and team development

• Apply the design system to priority product features when additional product design support is needed.
• Mentor junior designers, share best practices, and improve design craft and systems thinking.
• Own initiatives from concept to implementation while aligning with cross-functional teams.

Experience and skills

• 6–10 years of product design experience and deep expertise in design systems, component libraries, or design operations.
• Portfolio demonstrating systems built from the ground up, including libraries, token architecture, documentation, adoption, and impact.
• Expert Figma skills across components, variants, auto-layout, variables, and design tokens.
• Experience documenting in Markdown and using AI tools such as Google Stitch, ChatGPT, and Claude.
• Strong design fundamentals, responsive design, accessibility knowledge including WCAG 2.2, and experience in greenfield and brownfield environments.
• Systems thinking, independent 0-to-1 practice building, and strong collaboration and communication skills.
• Willingness to relocate and work on-site in Dubai or Kuala Lumpur.

Preferred experience

• Front-end skills in HTML, CSS, or React are a bonus.
• Fintech, proprietary trading, brokerage, SaaS, or complex data-rich product experience is a bonus.
• Familiarity with Tailwind, Storybook, or Zeroheight is a bonus.
