Senior Design Systems Designer

Role overview

Design system and engineering collaboration

• Build and evolve components, patterns, multi-tier tokens, guidelines, and documentation; establish scalable foundations for web and mobile.
• Audit existing products, identify inconsistencies, create baseline components, and develop an improvement roadmap.
• Maintain a token pipeline, enable theming and dark mode, and improve design-to-code fidelity, handoffs, and reusable component libraries.
• Establish governance, contribution workflows, accessibility standards aligned with WCAG 2.2, and responsive patterns.
• Drive adoption through workshops, office hours, and enablement; measure adoption, efficiency, and design consistency.

Documentation and team contributions

• Create component usage guidelines, specifications, and decision notes in Markdown files; use AI tools to accelerate design and documentation workflows.
• Apply the system to priority product features, own initiatives from concept to implementation, and mentor junior designers.

Experience and portfolio

• Requires 6–10 years of product design experience and deep expertise in design systems, component libraries, or design operations.
• Portfolio should demonstrate systems built from the ground up, including components, token architectures, documentation, adoption, and measurable impact.
• Experience across greenfield system creation and improvement of existing products is required.

Technical and collaboration qualifications

• Expert Figma skills across components, variants, auto-layout, variables, and design tokens; strong knowledge of typography, colour, spacing, responsive design, and WCAG 2.2.
• Experience with Markdown documentation and AI tools including Google Stitch, ChatGPT, and Claude; Tokens Studio or Style Dictionary are cited for token pipelines.
• Storybook and Zeroheight are cited for reusable component libraries; Tailwind, Storybook, or Zeroheight familiarity is a bonus.
• Front-end skills in HTML, CSS, or React and experience in fintech, trading, brokerages, SaaS, or complex data-rich products are bonuses.
• Requires independent ownership, systems thinking, and effective collaboration and communication with designers and engineers.

Work location

• The role is on-site in Dubai or Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, with relocation required.

Selection process

• The process includes a 30-minute HR session, a 60-minute problem-solving session, and a 60-minute bar-raiser session.
