Role overview

Core responsibilities

• Contribute to project inception, planning documents, drawing strategies, drawing standards, numbering, and efficient production methods.
• Comply with BIM Execution Plans and agree deliverables, resources, deadlines, and priorities with project teams.
• Coordinate setting-out coordinates, grid lines, floor levels, and building details.
• Develop general arrangement, section, and detail drawings and coordinated models from engineering and design-team information.
• Produce accurate models, resolve clashes, and contribute to architectural and MEP model coordination.
• Follow WSP CAD standards, templates, documentation, and library items; check models and drawings and plan timely reviews.
• Follow QA, document-control, archiving, and CDM procedures.
• Coordinate with project teams in India and the UK; coach colleagues and guide others when required.
• Contribute to CAD estimates, monitor work and fee tracking, and save project correspondence.
• Prepare and check structural drawings and detailing for concrete structures and steel members; apply lessons learned.

Qualifications and experience

• Diploma in Civil Engineering or higher.
• 8+ years of production experience in detailing, structural drawing, team management, and engineering, with significant similar-role experience or a strong track record.
• Experience on several medium-sized projects, working independently or as part of a wider CAD team, and across different sectors.

Mandatory skills and knowledge

• Expert knowledge of Revit and AutoCAD, including the ability to coach junior staff in standard software functions.
• Use AutoCAD, BIM360, Navisworks, Microsoft Office 365, and MS Teams.
• Understand structural mechanics, building construction, consulting engineering, and coordination across disciplines.
• Understand RIBA work stages, LOD, and drawing requirements at each stage.
• Knowledge of project templates, custom worksets, Revit Phasing, Uniclass 2015, file types, and extensions.
• Familiarity with PAS 1192 and BS 1192 standards and experience with CDE document approvals and rejections.
