Senior Backend Software Engineer

Role overview

Responsibilities

• Build Python backend services, APIs, microservices, event-driven systems, and data processing workflows.
• Design for availability, reliability, scalability, performance, and observability.
• Operate services in cloud environments and work with relational, document, and key-value databases.
• Collaborate with product, engineering, data science, and other stakeholders; guide architecture and engineering standards.
• Mentor engineers, review code and designs, troubleshoot production issues, and improve system performance.

Requirements

• 7+ years of professional backend software development experience and expert-level Python proficiency.
• Extensive production experience with large-scale backend systems, REST APIs, microservices, and distributed systems.
• Strong knowledge of scalability, performance, fault tolerance, and reliability.
• Experience with Kafka or RabbitMQ; PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, and Redis; AWS; Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience with data pipelines, CI/CD, automated testing, monitoring, and observability.
• Strong debugging, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Preferred experience

• Modern DevOps practices and cloud-native architectures are sought.
• Nice to have: machine learning systems, frameworks such as Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, or XGBoost, and MLOps.
• Nice to have: LLMs, generative AI, RAG, NLP, Spark, Airflow, Ray, vector databases, semantic search, or AI-powered applications.
• Experience in media intelligence, analytics, SaaS, or data platforms and contributions to open-source or engineering communities are listed as nice to have.
