Overview
- Senior Accountant – Construction & LandscapingKey ResponsibilitiesFinancial Reporting & General Ledger
- Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with IFRS.
- Maintain the general ledger, including journal entries, accruals, provisions, and period-end adjustments.
- Lead month-end and year-end closing activities, ensuring timely reporting.
- Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of all financial records and accounting transactions.
Project Accounting & Cost Control
- Monitor project budgets, costs, and profitability across multiple ongoing projects.
- Manage revenue recognition using the percentage of completion (POC) method where applicable.
- Analyze cost variances and provide management with actionable financial insights.
- Review subcontractor costs, material consumption, purchase orders, and local purchase orders (LPOs) to ensure cost efficiency.
- Support estimation and tendering activities through financial analysis and cost evaluations.
Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable & Cash Flow
- Oversee customer invoicing, progress billing, and payment certification processes.
- Monitor collections and outstanding receivables to improve cash flow.
- Manage supplier and subcontractor payments while ensuring timely processing.
- Assist in cash flow forecasting and working capital management.
Uae Vat & Financial Compliance
- Ensure full compliance with UAE VAT regulations and coordinate timely tax filings.
- Maintain audit-ready financial records and supporting VAT documentation.
- Implement and monitor internal financial controls, policies, and procedures.
Reconciliations & Asset Management
- Perform regular bank, supplier, customer, and intercompany reconciliations.
- Maintain the fixed asset register and ensure accurate depreciation accounting.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies promptly.
Audit & Internal Controls
- Coordinate with external auditors during statutory and internal audits.
- Support the implementation and enhancement of internal controls to minimize financial risks and ensure regulatory compliance.
Payroll & Management Reporting
- Review payroll accounting in coordination with the HR department.
- Prepare management reports, MIS reports, and financial dashboards to support executive decision-making.
- Provide financial analysis and recommendations to assist in strategic planning and business performance.
Leadership & Stakeholder Coordination
- Liaise with banks, vendors, clients, auditors, and government authorities on financial matters.
- Supervise and mentor junior finance team members when required.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting accuracy, and operational efficiency.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 10 years of accounting experience, preferably within the UAE construction, landscaping, or project-based industry.
- Strong expertise in project accounting, cost control, budgeting, and profitability analysis.
- In-depth knowledge of IFRS and UAE VAT regulations.
- Proficiency in ERP systems and advanced Microsoft Excel.
- Experience handling audits, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance.
- Excellent analytical, communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and meet strict deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional certification such as ACCA, CPA, CMA, or CA.
- Experience working on large-scale construction, landscaping, or infrastructure projects.
- Familiarity with Bills of Quantities (BOQs), subcontract management, procurement cycles, and project costing methodologies.
- UAE driving licence is an added advantage.
