Role overview
A hands-on security engineer is expected to identify security problems, create an action plan, implement fixes, and close them end to end.
The role shapes security across cloud, endpoints, and products through direct implementation rather than recommendations alone.
The engineer works directly with the engineers shipping code and helps establish standards as the company grows.
What you will work on
- Harden cloud security posture across Azure.
- Manage identity and access governance, including Entra ID, privileged access, and access reviews.
- Oversee vulnerability management and patching.
- Implement security monitoring and alerting and respond to incidents.
- Integrate security into CI/CD through code, dependency, container, and secrets scanning.
- Manage endpoint security and device compliance.
- Conduct third-party and vendor security reviews.
- Support compliance and audit readiness, coordinate penetration tests, and provide security awareness training.
Required skills and experience
- Hands-on experience securing Azure environments.
- Strong identity and access management knowledge, including Entra ID or a similar platform.
- Experience integrating security into CI/CD pipelines.
- Practical vulnerability management and incident response experience.
- Familiarity with compliance and audit processes.
- Clear communication skills, including explaining risk to non-security colleagues.
