The Security Detection & Response Specialist monitors, detects, analyzes, and responds to cybersecurity incidents to protect organizational digital assets and information systems.
CSOC monitoring and response
- Monitor security events, reports, alerts, and CSOC dashboards for anomalous patterns and potential incidents.
- Manage CSOC incidents and related activities in a timely manner, including root cause analysis.
- Gather information and provide actionable intelligence on cyber threats and incidents.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly CSOC key risk indicator reports.
- Create and fine-tune monitoring use cases and alerts.
- Check CSOC system and tool health and confirm host monitoring and required security log collection.
- Build, support, and update CSOC playbooks and processes with guidance from InfoSec management.
Security controls and governance
- Support administration and configuration of SIEM, antivirus, network security devices, PAM, DLP, vulnerability management, and other security controls.
- Prepare security awareness messages, presentations, and announcements for management, IT staff, and users; participate in cyber drills and CSOC exercises.
- Escalate critical items and coordinate remediation with relevant teams.
- Perform exception reviews, due diligence, and risk assessments; facilitate technology audits and control remediation.
- Resolve technical security queries, research risks, recommend controls, and maintain information security incident documentation.
Qualifications and experience
- Bachelor of Science degree in computer science, engineering, or a related technical field.
- Experience in security operations or equivalent information technology work.
