Role overview

Work in Thames Water's Security Control Centre monitoring security across its estate and supporting effective physical security measures.

Support security incident investigations, coordinate updates, and record actions and decisions for internal stakeholders and government agencies.

Control centre duties

  • Triage incident reports so the correct response is initiated and auditable; support operational sites during security system outages.
  • Activate disaster recovery plans, manage the control-centre working environment, and support system health checks and data or subject access requests.
  • Coordinate contractors for maintenance requests and defect management, and help maintain control-centre functionality.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and security-related projects, including control-centre and system upgrades.
  • Manage ID cards and access requirements, and step up to support the Supervisor when required.

Essential criteria and clearance

  • Operational experience in a similar SCC, AMC, ARC, or SOC role.
  • Knowledge and experience using CCTV, alarms, access control, and other security systems to monitor and respond to alarms.
  • Thorough understanding and deployment of monitoring, response, emergency, and escalation procedures.
  • Be analytical, decisive, self-motivated, committed, organised, and take ownership of actions.
  • Active Counter Terrorism Check clearance or willingness and eligibility to undergo the required vetting before starting.

Hours and shifts

  • The role is listed as 38.5 hours per week, working four 12-hour night shifts followed by four days off.

Location

  • The role is based at Kemble Court, Reading.

Pay and benefits

  • Pay is listed as £33,200–£44,000 per annum depending on experience and skills.
  • Benefits include 24 days of annual leave, rising to 28 with service, plus bank holidays, and a contributory pension.
  • The posting also lists annual personal medical assessments, performance-related pay, and a wider benefits scheme.
