Monitor live drilling rig operations via CCTV and support safe operations through observation, intervention, escalation, and reporting.
The role covers 12-hour day or night shifts.
Key responsibilities
- Observe high-risk activities, including casing runs, rig moves, lifting, well control, and maintenance.
- Identify unsafe acts, hazardous conditions, procedural deviations, and equipment-positioning issues in real time.
- Intervene and communicate safety concerns to rig leadership; escalate unaddressed risks through reporting channels.
- Track and report SIF-potential events and near misses; prepare observation reports with photo or video evidence.
- Maintain monitoring logs and shift handovers; analyze trends and recommend improvements.
- Support HSE Assurance with weekly reporting, trend analysis, and proactive risk management.
Required qualifications and experience
- Former Rig Manager, Night Rig Manager, or senior drilling operations leader.
- At least 5–8 years of land drilling experience and a strong record in HSE leadership, incident prevention, and safety culture.
- In-depth knowledge of rig operations, equipment, and high-risk activities; experience monitoring tripping, casing running, cementing, rig-up/down, pressure testing, and heavy lifting.
- Strong knowledge of SSOW, including PTW, JSA and risk assessment, LOTOTO/isolation, DROPS, work at height, confined space entry, safe lifting, hazardous-area controls, and PPE.
- Recognize line-of-fire, red-zone, lifting, pressure-testing, and well-control hazards.
- Proficient with CCTV systems, MS Office, and digital reporting tools; communicate safety notifications clearly and professionally.
