Role Purpose

Lead and progressively centralize end-to-end Record-to-Report (R2R) activities for the Group, ensuring an accurate general ledger, disciplined period-end close, reliable management reporting, reconciled intercompany balances, IFRS-compliant consolidation, and strong control over fixed assets, invent

The role establishes one consistent Group accounting and reporting framework across multiple business units, entities and existing ERP systems.

Act as the primary technical and operational owner of Group close execution; partner with Business Unit Finance Managers for source-data accountability and escalate material accounting, control and reporting matters to the Head of Accounting & Shared Services.

Scope and Leadership Accountability

  • Own the Group R2R operating model and its seven workstreams: GL; closing/reporting; intercompany; consolidation; IFRS/technical accounting; fixed assets; and inventory/costing.
  • Manage the assigned shared-services R2R team, allocate close tasks, perform independent reviews, coach staff and define backups for critical close and reporting activities.
  • Issue common policies, chart-of-accounts mapping, templates, reconciliations, close checklists and reporting standards across business units despite differing ERP platforms.
  • Provide functional direction and deadline tracking to BU finance teams; BU FMs retain ownership of local books, underlying evidence and transaction accuracy until responsibilities are formally transferred to the hub.
  • Maintain disciplined maker-checker approvals, segregation of duties, audit trails, issue logs and a formal escalation/close-reopening process.

GL and Close Responsibilities

  • Own GL governance: chart of accounts and segment mapping, posting rules, journal standards, period controls, accounting master data and standardized trial balance structures.
  • Oversee recurring and adjustment journals for accruals, provisions, prepayments, payroll, interest, allocations, revenue/cost cut-off, reclassifications and opening-balance corrections.
  • Ensure all material balance-sheet accounts have timely reconciliations with supporting schedules.
  • Review unusual entries, manual journals and reversals; challenge unsupported balances and clear aged reconciling items.
  • Design and execute the approved Group Close Calendar, with an operating objective of Group consolidated reporting by D+7.
  • Produce monthly actuals and reporting packs covering P&L, balance sheet, cash flows, key movements, gross margin/costing, working capital, exception logs and commentary on material accounting variances.
  • Lead quarter-end and year-end close requirements, audit schedules, group disclosure packs and closure of audit findings.

Intercompany and Consolidation

  • Maintain a complete intercompany matrix, counterparties, account mapping, transaction types and matching/confirmation procedures for all Group entities.
  • Enforce monthly bilateral matching of receivables/payables, sales/purchases, management charges, financing, accrued interest, asset transfers and other related-party movements.
  • Investigate timing, FX, document, VAT and cut-off mismatches with BU FMs; maintain an aged dispute tracker.
  • Prepare or independently review intercompany elimination schedules, including unrealized intra-group profit in inventory and fixed assets where applicable.
  • Lead entity-level TB collection, mapping validation and the controlled consolidation model across business units and legal entities using different accounting systems.
  • Prepare Group consolidated P&L, balance sheet, cash-flow statement, changes in equity and supporting schedules, with full reconciliation to the submitted entity-level accounts.

IFRS and Technical Accounting

  • Act as the Group R2R technical accounting focal point and custodian of a practical, consistently applied IFRS Accounting Policy Manual, subject to Head/CFO approval.
  • Research, document and review significant accounting judgments on revenue recognition (IFRS 15), expected credit losses (IFRS 9), leases (IFRS 16), consolidation (IFRS 10), inventory (IAS 2), property/plant/equipment (IAS 16), FX (IAS 21), impairment (IAS 36), provisions (IAS 37) and related-party d
  • Provide written technical assessments for automotive trading/export cut-off, vehicle buy-back structures, rental fleet classification, residual values, depreciation, inventory-to-PPE transfers, asset disposals and repair/workshop WIP.
  • Identify changes to standards and lead readiness planning for IFRS 18 financial statement presentation effective for annual periods beginning 1 January 2027.
  • Prepare technical position papers and accounting treatment recommendations; refer material or complex positions for independent review and approval.

Fixed Assets and Inventory Costing

  • Govern the Group fixed asset register, asset classes, asset IDs, capitalization rules, construction-in-progress, asset transfers, disposals, write-offs and book-to-register reconciliations.
  • Own the consistency and review of depreciation methods, useful lives and residual values; assess prospective changes in estimates, impairment indicators and gains/losses on disposal.
  • Oversee periodic physical verification, asset tagging, impairment reviews and reconciliation of fleet/operational systems to the financial ledger.
  • Establish standard inventory and costing policies for car trading/export, dealership stock, spare parts, workshops, logistics and any other applicable business lines.
  • Validate vehicle-level/VIN-level landed cost and cost-of-sales recognition, including eligible purchase, freight, customs and directly attributable costs.
  • Control goods-in-transit, GRNI, inventory movement, sales/COGS cut-off, physical counts, stock adjustments, obsolescence, aging and lower-of-cost-and-net-realizable-value assessment.
  • Oversee workshop job-card WIP, parts and labor costing, eligible overhead allocation and prompt transfer to COGS upon job completion.
  • Review unit-level gross margins, negative-margin transactions, unexplained cost variances and cost allocations.

Transformation and Governance

  • Build and execute a phased R2R centralization plan without waiting for a single ERP rollout; standardize outputs and controls first, then progressively transfer activities and system access.
  • Own R2R SOPs, standard reconciliation templates, close packages, consolidation instructions, fixed-asset procedures, inventory costing and intercompany protocols.
  • Partner with Finance Systems/IT to harmonize chart-of-accounts segments, mappings, reporting dimensions, controls and automated reconciliations across current and future ERP platforms.
  • Develop a recurring R2R dashboard showing close milestone compliance, reconciliation status, intercompany exceptions, unresolved TB issues, reporting changes and audit findings.
  • Provide technical coaching, cross-training, succession/backup coverage and performance feedback; identify capability gaps and recommend resource allocations.

Mandatory Deliverables

Approved monthly closing calendar, submission tracker, close sign-off checklist and post-close exception log.

Standardized BU TB and balance-sheet reconciliation pack, with documented preparer/reviewer sign-off.

Monthly Group consolidated financial statements and management actuals pack, including supporting consolidation/elimination entries.

Monthly intercompany matching and aging reports, plus outstanding mismatch resolution and escalation schedule.

Group asset/fleet roll-forward, inventory/costing reconciliation and significant valuation/impairment registers.

Updated technical accounting position papers, Group accounting policies, SOPs and statutory/external audit support pack.

Continuous-improvement register and R2R performance dashboard for the Head of Accounting & Shared Services.

Decision Rights and Ownership Boundaries

The position may review and approve entries, reconciliations and reporting outputs only within delegated authority; no individual may both prepare and independently approve the same material transaction/control.

Material judgmental entries, changes in accounting policies or estimates, significant write-offs, consolidation scope decisions and post-close reopening require approval under the Group Delegation of Authority.

BU FMs are accountable for local transaction completeness, evidence and BU sign-off until the relevant activity is formally centralized.

AP/AR transaction execution, Treasury funding/payments, tax return filings and FP&A budgets/forecasts remain with their designated owners; this role coordinates required month-end inputs and validates the accounting impact.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; ACCA, CPA, CA, ACA or equivalent professional accounting qualification strongly preferred.
  • Typically 7+ years of progressive accounting and reporting experience, including at least 3 years in a senior GL, consolidation, R2R or financial-control leadership role.
  • Demonstrable delivery of consolidated IFRS financial statements, multi-entity close governance and technical accounting judgments in complex groups.
  • Practical experience in inventory/cost accounting and fixed assets; automotive trading, rent-a-car, distribution, workshops, logistics or other asset-intensive businesses advantageous.
  • Experience working across mixed ERP landscapes (e.g., Oracle NetSuite, SAP or equivalent), advanced Excel and reporting/BI tools; exposure to ERP migration or shared-services implementation desirable.
  • Strong English communication, audit coordination, project management and cross-functional stakeholder influence; UAE/GCC regulatory and tax-environment familiarity advantageous.
