Full Stack Developer — Backend Heavy

Role overview

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services, REST APIs, and microservices using Java Spring Boot or Node.js.
• Design database schemas, queries, indexes, and data-access layers; optimize database performance.
• Build Kafka event-driven systems, asynchronous processing, and distributed workflows.
• Integrate third-party APIs and build frontend features with React.js or Next.js.
• Write maintainable, testable, production-ready code; participate in code reviews and uphold engineering standards.
• Troubleshoot production issues, perform root-cause analysis, and optimize scalability, performance, and reliability.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and cloud deployments; collaborate with Product, QA, and DevOps.
• Independently own features from requirements through database/API design, implementation, deployment, and production monitoring.

Experience and core requirements

• At least 4 years of professional software development experience with significant hands-on backend development.
• Strong backend expertise in either Java Spring Boot or Node.js.
• React.js or Next.js frontend experience is required, though backend is the primary focus.

Mandatory technical skills

• Backend track: Java 8+, Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Data JPA/Hibernate, REST APIs, microservices, Maven/Gradle, and JUnit/Mockito; or Node.js, TypeScript/JavaScript, NestJS/Express.js, REST APIs, microservices, Jest, and asynchronous programming.
• Strong SQL knowledge, database design, query optimization, indexing, and transactions; PostgreSQL or MySQL are listed.
• Hands-on Kafka experience covering producers, consumers, consumer groups, partitioning, event-driven architecture, message processing, and failure handling.
• Hands-on AWS services and cloud deployments; expected knowledge includes EKS, EC2, RDS, S3, IAM, CloudWatch, ECR, and VPC/networking fundamentals.
• Strong Docker understanding, image creation and optimization, containerized application deployments, and Kubernetes fundamentals; EKS application deployment is strongly required.
• Strong hands-on GitHub Actions experience for CI/CD, automated build and test, image build/push, deployment automation, environment configuration, AWS integration, and basic CI/CD security.
• Frontend requirements include React.js or Next.js, TypeScript/JavaScript, REST API integration, component-based development, and basic frontend debugging; Angular is not required.

Engineering fundamentals

• Strong understanding of data structures and algorithms, object-oriented programming, SOLID principles, and design patterns.
• Knowledge of REST API design, microservices architecture, distributed systems, database transactions and concurrency, authentication and authorization, scalability, performance, testing, logging, monitoring, and observability.

Good to have

• AWS EKS production experience, Kubernetes troubleshooting, Helm, Redis, Kafka-based distributed systems, Terraform, and API Gateway.
• Prometheus/Grafana, Datadog or similar observability tools, designing systems from scratch, and production ownership of high-traffic services.
• MongoDB or another NoSQL database is a plus.

Pay

• AED 6,000–7,000 per month.
