R&D Engineer

Role overview

Responsibilities

• Research technologies, materials, processes, and engineering solutions.
• Design, develop, test, and evaluate products, components, systems, and prototypes.
• Improve product performance, reliability, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
• Run experiments, simulations, feasibility studies, and analyses to validate concepts and designs.
• Prepare specifications, drawings, test plans, research reports, and development records.
• Translate product concepts and customer requirements into engineering solutions with cross-functional teams.
• Test products, evaluate performance, investigate failures, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
• Research emerging technologies, industry trends, and engineering best practices.
• Support new manufacturing methods, engineering processes, and product-improvement initiatives.
• Follow engineering standards, safety requirements, and quality guidelines; work with suppliers and manufacturers to assess technical solutions.
• Track project progress and schedules; support prototypes, pilot production, and validation before commercial implementation.

Requirements

• Proven experience as an R&D Engineer, Research Engineer, Product Development Engineer, or in a similar engineering role.
• A related bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, or Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a technical field is preferred.
• Strong engineering principles, research methodology, product development, and technical problem-solving knowledge.
• Experience in product design, prototyping, testing, experimentation, or engineering process improvement.
• Proficiency in relevant engineering software, CAD tools, simulation platforms, or technical analysis applications.
• Ability to analyze technical data and test results and prepare clear technical reports, documentation, and presentations.
• Strong analytical, critical-thinking, troubleshooting, communication, teamwork, and attention-to-detail skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, collaborate across departments, and meet deadlines.
• Knowledge of industry standards, safety regulations, quality control, or testing methodologies is an advantage.
• Project management, product lifecycle management, continuous improvement, manufacturing, industrial engineering, electronics, or product innovation experience is an advantage.
