QA/QC Engineer – Finishing Works

Role summary

Inspection planning and finishing inspections

• Review RFIs/WIRs, approved drawings, materials, samples, mock-ups, checklists, and ITP references; reschedule unready inspections and sequence inspections by area, trade, and work package.
• Inspect plaster and skim coats, painting, gypsum ceilings, tiling, stone and cladding, joinery, wardrobes, kitchens, vanities, sanitary fittings, aluminium doors and windows, frames, and glazing.
• Check dimensions, levels, alignment, flatness, edges, joints, transitions, workmanship, and interfaces with MEP elements.

Quality records and non-conformance

• Issue inspection reports covering scope, reference documents, compliance, defects, and corrective actions; maintain checklists, photographs, logs, and traceability records under the QMS.
• Raise and classify NCRs, coordinate corrective and preventive actions, track deadlines and responses, and reinspect rectified work before closing NCRs.
• Escalate repeated or unresolved issues to the Technical Manager; flag risks and recommend suspension, additional mock-ups, or revised corrective sequencing where appropriate.

Handover, coordination, and safety

• Participate in snagging, verify de-snagging, prepare finishing handover records, and support consultant, client, and authority walkthroughs.
• Coordinate with site engineers, finishing supervisors, subcontractors, and design or technical teams; communicate findings and protect completed finishes.
• Follow site HSE procedures for safe access, lighting, scaffolding, and housekeeping.

Qualifications and experience

• Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Interior Design, or a related discipline.
• 10–12 years’ experience with responsibility for finishing-work quality control on large-scale projects.
• Strong knowledge of finishing systems, workmanship standards, tolerances, installation methods, and sequencing.
• Experience with WIR/RFI processes, inspection reports, NCRs, corrective-action tracking, snagging, and de-snagging.
• Ability to interpret drawings, details, specifications, and approved samples and assess interfaces, visual alignment, and usability.
• Strong technical judgement, attention to detail, coordination, and communication skills; willingness to travel to Garowe, Somalia.
