Project Engineering Manager

Role objective

Project coordination and delivery

• Coordinate with the Project Planning Manager to align deliveries with the project schedule; hold regular reviews and ensure schedule adherence.
• Conduct internal reviews for resource optimization, allocation, and productivity improvement.
• Review designs, calculations, and drawings and ensure timely submission after customer approvals.
• Clarify vendor issues and support timely delivery of materials to the project site.
• Resolve design issues with interdisciplinary managers and support site execution teams with critical design and procedural delays.
• Implement BIM on projects.

Procurement, contracts, and team leadership

• Resolve procurement issues and support supply chain management with vendor-engineering order finalization.
• Support BOQ preparation, review pre-bid offers and technical submissions, and provide post-tender vendor clarifications to the contracts team.
• Lead and manage design leads, design engineers, and draughtspersons; review vendor evaluations against client technical specifications.
• Support site teams with commercial issues and bill processing; facilitate manufacturing clearances through supplier communication.
• Clarify client deliverables and identify the resources required to complete them.

Technical expertise

• Expertise in primary and secondary engineering for substation projects, including GIS/AIS substations up to 765 kV.
• Proficiency in selecting power transformers, reactors, circuit breakers, disconnectors, and instrument transformers.
• Knowledge of earthing, lighting, lightning protection, cabling, civil/MEP/instrumentation interfaces, schemes, wiring diagrams, SCADA, and control systems.
• Understanding of project execution across different geographies, clients, and utilities, including equipment and vendor-engineering market conditions.
• Ability to understand and interpret contractual technical requirements and support project teams.

Language, tools, and professional skills

• Read, write, and speak Arabic to build networks with government and local companies.
• General awareness of MS Office is required; awareness of ETAP, PSCAD, CYMGRD, and project planning tools is desirable.
• Interviewing skills are specified.
