Role objective
Ensure project engineering activities meet schedule, quality, and cost targets while maintaining adherence to the L2 schedule.
Identify optimizations and alternative solutions that accelerate delivery while protecting project margin.
Coordinate civil, structural, MEP, and instrumentation disciplines; allocate work and man-hours across project roles.
Key responsibilities
- Coordinate engineering deliveries with project planning and lead project reviews to monitor schedule adherence.
- Review resource allocation, productivity, designs, calculations, and drawings; secure approvals and submit deliverables on time.
- Resolve vendor and interdisciplinary design issues, support timely material delivery, and assist site execution teams.
- Implement BIM and address critical design issues and procedural delays.
- Support procurement, vendor engineering, order finalization, BOQs, pre-bid reviews, technical submissions, and post-tender clarifications.
- Lead design leads, design engineers, and draughtspeople; review vendors against client technical specifications.
- Support site teams on commercial matters and bill processing; facilitate supplier communication and manufacturing clearance.
- Clarify client deliverables and determine project resource requirements.
Technical expertise
- Expertise in primary and secondary engineering for substation projects, including GIS/AIS substations up to 765 kV.
- Proficiency selecting power transformers, reactors, circuit breakers, disconnectors, and instrument transformers.
- Knowledge of earthing, lighting, lightning protection, cabling, schemes, wiring diagrams, SCADA, control systems, and interfaces with civil, MEP, and instrumentation.
- Understanding of project execution across geographies, clients, and utilities; equipment and vendor-engineering market knowledge.
- Ability to interpret contractual technical requirements.
- Read, write, and speak Arabic to build networks with government and local companies.
Software and behavioral attributes
- General awareness of MS Office is required; awareness of ETAP, PSCAD, CYMGRD, and project planning tools is desirable.
