Role objective
Ensure project engineering activities meet schedule, quality, and cost expectations.
Maintain adherence to the L2 execution schedule and identify optimizations or alternatives that enable faster delivery and positive project margins.
Coordinate civil, structural, MEP, and instrumentation disciplines and allocate work and man-hours.
Project delivery and coordination
- Coordinate scheduled deliveries with the Project Planning Manager and conduct project reviews to maintain schedule adherence.
- Review resource allocation and productivity through internal meetings; manage Design Leads, Design Engineers, and draughtspeople.
- Review designs, calculations, and drawings and ensure timely submission after customer approvals.
- Resolve vendor and inter-discipline design issues, support material delivery, and help site teams address design issues and procedural delays.
- Enable and review quantity estimates for Bills of Materials and ensure BIM implementation.
- Support procurement and supply chain on order finalization, BOQs, pre-bid offers, technical submissions, and post-tender vendor clarifications.
- Review vendor evaluations against client technical specifications and support site teams with commercial issues and bill processing.
- Facilitate supplier communications for manufacturing clearance and clarify client deliverables and project resource needs.
Technical expertise
- Requires overall primary and secondary engineering expertise for substation projects, including GIS/AIS substations up to 765 kV.
- Requires proficiency selecting power transformers, reactors, circuit breakers, disconnectors, and instrument transformers.
- Requires knowledge of substation primary and secondary design, including earthing, lighting, lightning protection, cabling, schemes, wiring diagrams, SCADA, and control systems.
- Requires understanding of projects across geographies, clients, and utilities, including equipment and vendor-engineering market conditions.
- Requires ability to interpret contractual technical requirements and support project teams.
Language and interview skills
- Must be able to read, write, and speak Arabic to build networks with government and local companies.
- The role calls for good interviewing skills.
Software skills
- General awareness of MS Office is required.
- Awareness of ETAP, PSCAD, CYMGRD, and project planning tools is desirable.
