Role objective
Ensure project engineering activities are delivered within stipulated time, quality, and cost targets while adhering to the L2 execution schedule.
Develop optimizations and alternate proposals for faster project delivery and positive margins.
Coordinate civil, structural, MEP, and instrumentation disciplines and allocate work and man-hours across project roles.
Key responsibilities
- Align engineering deliveries with the project schedule and conduct regular project review meetings.
- Review resource allocation and productivity through internal meetings.
- Review designs, calculations, and drawings and ensure timely customer submissions after approvals.
- Resolve vendor issues and support timely material delivery to project sites.
- Resolve inter-discipline design issues and support site execution teams.
- Review quantity estimates for Bill of Materials submissions and address design-related critical issues and procedural delays.
- Ensure BIM implementation and support supply chain with procurement issues and vendor order finalization.
- Support BOQs, pre-bid offers, technical submissions, post-tender vendor clarifications, commercial issues, and bill processing.
- Lead design leads, design engineers, and draughtspeople; review vendor evaluations against client technical specifications.
- Facilitate manufacturing clearances and clarify client deliverables and project resource requirements.
Technical expertise
- Requires expertise in primary and secondary engineering for substation projects, including GIS and AIS substations up to 765 kV.
- Requires proficiency selecting power transformers, reactors, circuit breakers, disconnectors, and instrument transformers.
- Requires knowledge of earthing, lighting, lightning protection, cabling, civil/MEP/instrumentation interfaces, schemes, wiring diagrams, SCADA, and control systems.
- Requires understanding of project execution across geographies, clients, and utilities, equipment to be installed, and vendor-engineering market conditions.
- Requires ability to interpret contractual technical requirements and support project teams; good interviewing skills are also specified.
Language requirement
- Must be able to read, write, and speak Arabic to network with government and local companies.
Software and behavioral skills
- General awareness of MS Office is required.
- Awareness of ETAP, PSCAD, CYMGRD, and project planning tools is desirable.
