Role overview

Product manager / functional lead role on a multi-year modernization of a custom-built enterprise application.

The role owns system scope, business rules, backlog, and releases, working between client business owners, architects, and an AI-enabled engineering team.

What you will do

  • Own product vision, roadmap, and prioritized backlog; decide what is included in each release.
  • Lead functional discovery of the existing system, covering business rules, workflows, data, and edge cases, including information found in code and operational expertise.
  • Turn findings into epics, user stories, and acceptance criteria for engineers and testers.
  • Lead business and functional analysts and own functional design sign-off with client stakeholders.
  • Bridge business owners, architects, developers, and QA; resolve scope and requirement questions.
  • Run product reviews and demos, prepare UAT, and own functional acceptance.
  • Manage scope and change requests against the agreed commercial model.

Required qualifications

  • 8+ years in enterprise software delivery, including at least 3 years as product owner, product manager, or functional lead on a custom-built enterprise application.
  • Owned a product through at least one full cycle: discovery, backlog, build, UAT, go-live, and post-go-live change.
  • Strong requirements and business-rules analysis; comfortable reading data models and working alongside architects.
  • Experience leading business analysts.
  • Agile delivery experience using Scrum or SAFe, with Jira or Azure DevOps.
  • Clear written and spoken communication with senior client stakeholders.

Nice to have

  • Hands-on AI experience, such as using generative AI in product work, working with AI-assisted engineering teams, or owning a product with AI features.
  • Experience modernizing or replacing a custom legacy system and recovering business rules from the existing application.
  • Canadian public-sector experience, especially in financial assistance, benefits, grants, or case management programs.
  • SAFe POPM, CSPO, or similar product certification; eligibility for Canadian government security screening.

Compensation and rewards

  • Salary range is $90,000–$175,000; individuals may be eligible for a bonus program.
  • Total rewards include benefits, flexible work arrangements, and a hybrid work structure.

Work model and locations

  • Work model is hybrid.
  • Primary location is Toronto, Ontario; additional listed locations include Burlington, Calgary, Edmonton, Fredericton, Halifax, Kitchener, Moncton, Ottawa, Regina, Saint John, Saskatoon, St. John's, Vancouver, Victoria, and Winnipeg.
