Senior Product Manager owning the vision, strategy, and delivery of a digital service on a UK public-sector programme.
Works autonomously at SFIA Level 5, influencing senior stakeholders and taking accountability for product outcomes.
Product delivery and leadership
- Set vision, strategy, and roadmap around user needs and policy or business goals.
- Own and prioritise the backlog, balancing value, risk, cost, and delivery constraints.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and guide the service through discovery, alpha, beta, live, and GDS assessments.
- Set success measures, use data to guide decisions, and manage stakeholders and governance boards.
- Ensure accessibility, security, and inclusion; communicate progress, risks, and decisions; coach other product roles.
Essential requirements
- SC clearance or eligibility is required.
- Proven GDS Service Standard and GOV.UK Service Manual delivery experience, including service phases and assessments.
- Product Manager or Senior Product Manager experience at SFIA Level 5 or equivalent.
- Strong user-centred design, user research, Agile backlog, stakeholder influence, and data-informed decision experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
Desirable experience and knowledge
- Central government or arm's-length body experience is desirable.
- GDaD framework familiarity, WCAG 2.2 and Technology Code of Practice understanding, and multi-supplier delivery experience are desirable.
- Product management certification such as CSPO or similar is desirable.
