Role Overview

Candescent is seeking a Product Designer to join the Forge Design System team.

The role treats the design system as a living product requiring creation, stewardship, consistency, accessibility, and fidelity at scale.

Work Arrangement

  • The role is based in Bangalore, India, and is hybrid.
  • The position is full-time.

Component Design and Figma

  • Design, document, and maintain Figma component libraries.
  • Ensure Figma component properties align one-to-one with React Native code component APIs.
  • Design new components and interaction patterns such as tables, tabs, forms, and carousels.
  • Define and document guidance for when different patterns should be used.

Tokens and Cross-Platform Design

  • Support the Poise, Prestige, and Pulse brand presets and future theme extensibility.
  • Manage color, typography, spacing, radius, and shadow tokens through Figma variables.
  • Validate component behavior across breakpoints and device contexts.
  • Design mobile-first components for React Native and Uniwind across iOS, Android, and web.

Governance and Theme Editor

  • Contribute to the visual theme editor that enables financial institution administrators to customize themes without code.
  • Review and triage design contributions from product teams through the federated contribution model.
  • Conduct design alignment reviews for component requests and pattern proposals.
  • Own the federated contribution intake process, including reviews with India and partner teams operating in IST.

Documentation and Accessibility

  • Maintain component specifications, usage patterns, and foundation principles on the design documentation site.
  • Coordinate accessibility audits and checks for Forge Design System components against WCAG AA 2.1.
  • Triage accessibility feedback, route implementation fixes, and make design changes when appropriate.
  • Track remediation to closure and partner with the accessibility capability.

Requirements

  • Experience designing and maintaining shared UI components, interaction patterns, and design tokens for a design system.
  • Ability to work with Figma component libraries and variables.
  • Understanding of component behavior across breakpoints and device contexts.
  • Understanding of accessibility standards, including WCAG AA 2.1.
  • Ability to document component specifications, usage patterns, and foundation principles.
  • Ability to collaborate with engineers, accessibility teams, product teams, and distributed partner teams.
