Role overview

Workplace and clearance

• Hybrid working is available, with attendance at the Barnstaple site required two days per week.
• Occasional travel to other customer or Expleo locations may be required.
• Candidates may start after successful BPSS screening and must be eligible to obtain and maintain UK SC clearance.

Responsibilities

• Own work packages to agreed cost, schedule and quality; provide technical leadership and mentor engineers.
• Manage requirements and maintain specifications, interface definitions, compliance evidence, V&V plans and technical reports.
• Support architecture, design, trade studies, integration, verification, validation and qualification.
• Support FAT and formal testing, assess evidence, investigate faults, resolve issues and identify corrective actions.
• Support prototype transition, contribute to bids and planning, work with stakeholders, and apply engineering governance and configuration control.

Essential qualifications and experience

• Degree or equivalent in Systems, Electronic, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or another relevant engineering discipline.
• Eligible to obtain and maintain UK Security Clearance.
• Experience delivering systems engineering across multiple lifecycle stages and using IBM DOORS or a comparable requirements tool.

Essential skills

• Strong systems engineering knowledge and requirements capture, analysis, decomposition, traceability and verification planning.
• Practical understanding of integration, verification, validation, qualification and acceptance.
• Ability to lead work packages, review test procedures, assess evidence, solve technical problems and produce auditable documentation.

Desirable qualifications and skills

• Chartered Engineer status or evidence of working toward professional registration.
• Relevant systems engineering training or certification, such as INCOSE ASEP, CSEP or equivalent.
• MBSE tools such as Cameo or Enterprise Architect, interface knowledge, configuration/change control, defence standards, marine systems or regulated and safety-critical experience are desirable.
