A control-focused Payment Operations Officer role in the banking sector, covering first-level transaction checking, verification, and processing.
The role provides exposure to payments functions and changes involving automation, instant payment rails, and ISO 20022.
Key responsibilities
- Check and verify transactions across outward payments, inward remittances, clearing, collections, payroll, cash management, and post-dated cheques.
- Validate transaction details, beneficiary information, authorisations, and supporting documents before release.
- Process transactions accurately within turnaround times and daily cut-offs.
- Investigate tracing, repairs, returns, amendments, and queries from branches, business units, and correspondent banks.
- Support reconciliation and follow up on ageing or unmatched entries.
- Apply UAE Central Bank regulations, internal procedures, and operational controls.
- Resolve transaction queries for internal and external customers.
- Identify recurring errors, control gaps, and process-improvement or automation opportunities.
- Maintain accuracy while managing volumes and time-sensitive deadlines.
Requirements
- 1–2 years in banking operations, payments, remittances, trade finance, or a related back/middle-office function; strong graduates with relevant banking or financial-services internships may be considered.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet daily deadlines without compromising quality.
- Fluent written and spoken Arabic and English.
- Strong Excel skills.
- Exposure to SWIFT, core banking systems, or payment platforms is advantageous, not essential.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and investigation skills.
