Environmental and social compliance
- Provide expert assessment and advisory services to clients on environmental management.
- Evaluate environmental policies and develop management systems and processes.
- Manage environmental compliance with project plans, permits, regulations, and other applicable requirements.
- Integrate ESMS procedures and requirements into planning, construction, and operation phases.
- Ensure environmental and social services are delivered in compliance with L&T procedures, IFC Performance Standards, Saudi laws, gender policy, and health and safety policy.
Stakeholders and grievances
- Oversee the Stakeholder Management Plan and design and implement stakeholder engagement initiatives.
- Operate the project grievance mechanism and manage community and employee grievances and complaints.
- Oversee stakeholder and community consultations concerning project aspects.
- Ensure subcontractors comply with L&T's ESMS, policies, guidelines, procedures, technical specifications, gender policy, and health and safety policy.
Environmental plans and assurance
- Provide environmental awareness training to project manpower and communicate requirements clearly to team members.
- Develop and implement Environmental Management Plans, conduct inspections, recommend corrective actions, and maintain required documentation.
- Work with project teams to identify construction needs and avoid, minimize, or mitigate environmental impacts.
- Design and implement systems to mitigate environmental incidents in line with client requirements and international standards.
- Plan environmental awareness campaigns and conduct routine or unplanned site inspections and audits; advise teams and subcontractors and coordinate closure of observations.
- Manage environmental practice audits and facilitate lender audits against IFC Performance Standards.
- Monitor relevant environmental legislation and initiatives and liaise with regulatory bodies, clients, and external auditors.
- Lead incident investigations, prepare reports, and submit project reports as required.
Educational and professional qualifications
- Degree in environmental studies or engineering.
- Relevant additional qualifications, such as NEBOSH Diploma/IGC or ISO Auditor, are examples provided; professional license or membership such as Grad IOSH or CM IOSH is advantageous.
- At least 10–15 years of construction experience, including a minimum of three years in power and IFC-funded projects.
- Strong familiarity with E&S Performance Requirements and experience as E&S Manager on at least three internationally funded projects with active lender supervision.
