Role overview

Environmental and social management

• Advise clients on environmental management issues and evaluate environmental policies, systems, and processes.
• Manage compliance with project environmental plans, permits, regulations, and applicable requirements.
• Integrate ESMS requirements into planning, construction, and operation phases.
• Ensure environmental and social services support project activities in line with company procedures, IFC Performance Standards, Saudi laws, gender policy, and health and safety policy.
• Ensure subcontractors follow ESMS procedures, policies, guidelines, technical specifications, and relevant project requirements.
• Develop and implement Environmental Management Plans, conduct inspections, recommend corrective actions, and maintain documentation.
• Identify construction needs and solutions to avoid, minimize, or mitigate environmental impacts.
• Design systems to prevent environmental incidents and meet client requirements and international standards.

Stakeholders, training, and assurance

• Oversee stakeholder management plans, engagement initiatives, and community consultations.
• Operate the project grievance mechanism and manage community and employee complaints.
• Provide environmental awareness training and communicate environmental requirements to project teams.
• Plan environmental awareness campaigns and conduct routine or unplanned site inspections and audits.
• Advise subcontractors and internal construction teams based on inspection results and coordinate closure of observations.
• Prepare reports, manage audits of environmental practices, facilitate lender audits against IFC Performance Standards, and keep up to date with environmental legislation.
• Liaise with regulatory bodies, clients, and external project auditors.
• Lead incident investigations and prepare related reports promptly.

Qualifications and experience

• Environmental or engineering degree, with relevant additional qualifications such as NEBOSH Diploma/IGC or ISO Auditor qualifications.
• At least 10–15 years of construction experience, including at least 3 years in power and IFC-funded projects.
• Familiarity with E&S Performance Requirements.
• Experience as E&S Manager on at least three internationally funded projects with active lender supervision.
• Professional license or membership, such as Grad IOSH or CM IOSH, is advantageous.
