Lifting Engineer role focused on planning, technical review, and safe execution of lifting operations.
The work covers construction, industrial, or PMV projects and routine, complex, tandem, heavy, and critical lifts.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and review lifting plans, method statements, risk assessments, and procedures.
- Calculate loads, crane capacity, radius, boom configuration, ground pressure, and load distribution.
- Select appropriate cranes and rigging equipment; assess crane types and equipment specifications.
- Inspect sites for ground conditions, access constraints, obstructions, underground services, and other hazards.
- Verify equipment condition, certification, inspection records, and suitability for intended lifts.
- Coordinate with project and site teams and provide technical guidance on safe lifting practices.
- Monitor compliance, stop unsafe operations, investigate incidents, and recommend corrective actions.
- Maintain lifting documentation and support equipment readiness with maintenance teams.
- Support complex and critical lifting operations and participate in safety briefings.
Qualifications and experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Five to eight years in lifting engineering, crane operations, or heavy lifting in construction, industrial, or PMV work.
- UAE/GCC experience is preferred or mandatory depending on project requirements.
- Experience with lifting plans, method statements, risk assessments, crane capacities, load charts, rigging, and lifting calculations.
- Knowledge of UAE regulations, client requirements, BS/EN/ASME standards, equipment certification, and safe working load requirements.
- Lifting engineering or appointed-person training and certification is an advantage where project or client requires it.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and technical documentation.
