Java Developer - AVP

Role summary

Technical leadership and development

• Define application architecture, coding standards, and development best practices; drive technical decisions across projects.
• Design and develop enterprise applications and scalable microservices using Java, Spring Boot, and microservices architecture.
• Build full-stack solutions using Java, React.js or Angular, and RESTful APIs.
• Develop secure, high-performing, maintainable applications and integrations across distributed systems and third-party platforms.

Cloud, DevOps, and operations

• Manage deployments on AWS and OpenShift and design cloud-native solutions for scalability, reliability, and security.
• Oversee CI/CD pipelines and release management; support containerized deployments with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Monitor application health, troubleshoot production issues, and improve performance, availability, resilience, and operational excellence.

Collaboration

• Provide technical guidance, code reviews, and mentorship to development teams.
• Collaborate with architects, product owners, business teams, QA, and DevOps; participate in planning, estimations, and sprint reviews.
• Communicate technical solutions and project updates to stakeholders.

Experience and education

• 10+ years of hands-on software development experience and 3+ years of technical leadership or team management experience.
• Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Experience designing and building large-scale enterprise applications and strong Java full-stack and microservices expertise.

Required technical expertise

• Backend: Java 11/17+, Spring Framework, Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Security, RESTful APIs, and JPA/Hibernate.
• Frontend: React.js or Angular, JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML5, and CSS3.
• Cloud and DevOps: AWS, OpenShift, cloud-native development, CI/CD, Jenkins/GitHub Actions/GitLab CI, Docker, Kubernetes, and Git.
• Databases: Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, and MongoDB.
• Strong understanding of software design patterns, distributed systems, and API-driven architectures.

Preferred qualifications and skills

• Preferred skills include Spring Batch, Autosys, Apache Kafka, Elasticsearch, Splunk, Dynatrace, and Grafana.
• Preferred qualifications include AWS or Red Hat OpenShift certifications, relevant industry-domain experience, event-driven architecture exposure, and Agile/Scrum team leadership.
