Java Developer – AVP

Role overview

Technical leadership and development

• Lead enterprise application design, development, and deployment; define architecture, coding standards, and development practices.
• Provide technical guidance, code reviews, and mentorship; drive technical decisions and solution architecture across projects.
• Design scalable Spring Boot microservices and build full-stack solutions using Java, React.js or Angular, and REST APIs.
• Develop secure, high-performing, maintainable applications and integrations with distributed systems and third-party platforms.

Cloud, DevOps, and operations

• Manage deployments on AWS and OpenShift and design scalable, reliable, secure cloud-native solutions.
• Oversee CI/CD pipelines and release management; support containerized deployments with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Monitor application health, troubleshoot production issues, and improve performance, availability, resilience, and operational excellence.

Collaboration

• Work with architecture, product, business, QA, and DevOps teams; take part in planning, estimates, and sprint reviews.
• Communicate technical solutions and project updates to stakeholders.

Experience and technical qualifications

• 10+ years of hands-on software development experience and 3+ years of technical leadership or team management experience.
• Strong Java full-stack and microservices expertise, with experience designing large-scale enterprise applications.
• Hands-on AWS, OpenShift, and cloud-native technology experience.
• Backend: Java 11/17+, Spring Framework, Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Security, REST APIs, and JPA/Hibernate.
• Frontend: React.js or Angular, JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML5, and CSS3.
• DevOps and containerization: CI/CD, Jenkins/GitHub Actions/GitLab CI, Docker, Kubernetes, and Git.
• Database expertise with Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, or MongoDB.

Education and foundational knowledge

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Strong understanding of software design patterns, distributed systems, and API-driven architectures.
• Experience managing CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.

Preferred qualifications and skills

• Preferred tools include Spring Batch, Autosys, Apache Kafka, Elasticsearch, Splunk, Dynatrace, and Grafana.
• AWS and Red Hat OpenShift certifications are preferred.
• Experience in Banking, Financial Services, FinTech, Insurance, Retail, or Telecom; event-driven architecture and messaging; or Agile/Scrum team leadership is preferred.
