IT Admin - Senior IT Infrastructure & Network Engineer

Role overview

IT team leadership

• Lead and supervise the IT infrastructure and technical support team; assign responsibilities, monitor performance, and guide engineers and technicians.
• Establish technical standards, operational procedures, security policies, and infrastructure best practices.
• Coordinate with management, sales, procurement, and other departments; monitor service delivery, resources, projects, and departmental performance.

Infrastructure project delivery

• Own client infrastructure projects from consultation and requirements gathering through design, implementation, testing, commissioning, and handover.
• Conduct client-site visits, infrastructure assessments, and technical surveys.
• Prepare BOMs, technical proposals, implementation plans, schedules, and resource estimates.
• Coordinate procurement, installation, configuration, testing, and commissioning; personally support critical installations and troubleshooting.
• Manage timelines, dependencies, risks, client expectations, scope, quality, and commercial requirements.

Networking, security, and wireless

• Design, configure, deploy, monitor, and troubleshoot enterprise networks and Fortinet FortiGate or SonicWall firewalls.
• Implement VLANs, routing, switching, subnetting, NAT, ACLs, DHCP, DNS, VPNs, segmentation, and OSPF or BGP where required.
• Manage Cisco Catalyst/Meraki, FortiSwitch, and equivalent switching platforms.
• Conduct wireless site surveys, RF assessments, access point placement, and channel optimization.
• Deploy enterprise Wi-Fi using Cisco Meraki, Fortinet FortiAP, Ubiquiti UniFi, Aruba, or equivalent; configure controllers, guest networks, and security policies.

Servers, storage, and virtualization

• Install and administer Windows Server 2019, 2022, and 2025, including Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, file services, and print services.
• Install and commission physical servers, including rack installation, cabling, RAID, and firmware.
• Design and implement SAN/NAS storage, including iSCSI and Fibre Channel where required.
• Deploy and manage Microsoft Hyper-V, virtual machines, resource allocation, migrations, failover clustering, and Live Migration where required.
• Implement backup, restoration, disaster recovery, and business continuity using Veeam or equivalent tools.

Microsoft 365 and cloud

• Administer Microsoft 365, Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint Online, and Microsoft Entra ID.
• Manage accounts, permissions, licensing, identity, security policies, and data protection.
• Implement Microsoft Intune and endpoint management where required; support email and Microsoft 365 migrations, tenant configuration, and cloud integration.

Presales and client engagement

• Meet clients to understand technical needs and business objectives; survey sites and assess existing infrastructure.
• Prepare technical solution designs, network diagrams, BOMs, estimates, and implementation proposals.
• Recommend hardware, software, licensing, and infrastructure solutions; coordinate specifications, compatibility, and project costs with sales and procurement.
• Present solutions to clients and clarify implementation requirements, risks, and timelines.

Requirements

• The job title and responsibilities call for senior-level IT infrastructure and network engineering expertise.
• Ability to lead, supervise, mentor, and provide escalation support to an IT infrastructure and technical support team.
• Ability to own infrastructure projects from client consultation and design through implementation, testing, commissioning, and handover.
• Hands-on experience designing, deploying, configuring, and troubleshooting enterprise networks and firewall security.
• Experience with enterprise wireless design, deployment, site surveys, and troubleshooting.
• Experience administering Windows Server, Active Directory, storage, and virtualization environments.
• Experience implementing backup, restoration, disaster recovery, and business continuity solutions.
• Experience administering Microsoft 365 services, identity, access, and security; Intune and endpoint management where required.
• Ability to conduct client-site assessments, gather requirements, and prepare technical designs, proposals, BOMs, and estimates.
