Interim Project Manager (Renewables)

Location and workplace

• The role is based in Abu Dhabi, UAE, and is on-site.

Role overview

Project execution, monitoring and control

• Develop delivery strategies, project organization, Owner’s Engineer scope, inspection requirements, budgets, and construction costs.
• Oversee project-company and EPC-contractor performance, including HSE, contracts and claims, schedules, and standards compliance.
• Monitor delays, risks, deviations, and technical issues; coordinate resolution with project delivery functions.
• Review monthly reports, report risks and deviations to senior management, and conduct site visits to monitor progress.

Stakeholder coordination and delivery integration

• Lead selection and onboarding of project management resources and engage EPC contractors, offtakers, and other stakeholders.
• Act as Project Director until the appointed director is onboarded.
• Coordinate with Operations & Maintenance teams to prepare projects for operation and meet service contracts, HSE, SLAs, regulatory requirements, and specifications.
• Transfer delivery resources, knowledge, and value across projects, supporting generation and desalination business growth.

Performance optimization

• Use market policies and industry practices to inform project optimization and utilization models.
• Identify forecast, cost, schedule, resource-sharing, and performance improvements across projects.
• Evaluate project economics, cash flows, variations, extensions of time, force majeure, sensitivities, and alternative execution scenarios.
• Share project-management expertise and lessons learned, and address capability and delivery gaps.

Minimum qualifications and experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent.
• 8+ years in energy-sector project management leadership, with utilities and/or EPC contractor experience.
• Experience delivering 500MW+ PV power projects with BESS exposure.
• Management experience with an EPC Contractor or IPP during construction of multiple projects.

Preferred qualifications and experience

• Master’s degree in Engineering or relevant professional certification/diploma.
• 10+ years of relevant project-management experience in large-scale power generation.
• 500MW+ PV delivery with BESS exposure in GCC countries.
• Management experience with both EPC Contractors and IPPs during construction of multiple projects.
• Exposure to Middle Eastern power-generation stakeholders, including EPC contractors, major equipment suppliers, and offtakers.
