Head Waiter

Role overview

Guest service

• Welcome and attend to guests professionally and provide efficient, personalized service.
• Take accurate food and beverage orders and communicate them to the kitchen and bar.
• Monitor guest satisfaction and respond promptly to requests, concerns, or complaints.
• Know the menu, ingredients, allergens, and daily promotions.

Team supervision

• Lead and supervise waiters, runners, and other assigned service staff.
• Brief the team before shifts on reservations, VIP guests, promotions, menu changes, and operational requirements.
• Allocate sections and duties, monitor staff standards and attendance, and coach team members.
• Support staff training and performance follow-up with the Restaurant Manager.

Operations and service standards

• Prepare the assigned section and monitor table setup, cleanliness, mise en place, and restaurant presentation.
• Coordinate with the kitchen, bar, hostess, and other departments to deliver accurate orders on time.
• Monitor table turnover while maintaining guest experience quality.
• Follow company policies and food safety, hygiene, and health and safety standards; handle payments and POS transactions when required.

Administration and reporting

• Assist with daily operational requirements and reports, communicate issues and guest feedback to management, and ensure shift handovers.
• Monitor breakages, wastage, and unnecessary consumption; support stock and inventory checks when required.

Requirements

• Previous Head Waiter, Senior Waiter, Captain, or similar experience in a high-volume restaurant, hotel, or hospitality environment.
• Strong food and beverage service knowledge, communication, guest-service, leadership, and team-management abilities.
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment; professional appearance, positive attitude, and attention to detail.
• Good knowledge of POS systems and restaurant operations; flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
• European nationals willing to undertake a Europe summer-season task force are preferred.
