Kira is hiring a Commis Chef to support the kitchen brigade with preparation, station cooking, and cleanliness.
The full-time, shift-based role is suited to a cook who wants to develop toward Demi Chef de Partie.
Kitchen responsibilities
- Prepare station mise en place to the Chef de Partie's recipes, portions, and quantities.
- Cook and plate service dishes to standard recipes and plating guides.
- Receive and store deliveries, rotate stock FIFO, and label items with dates and contents.
- Maintain clean, organized stations, equipment, and fridges; report stock shortages, wastage, and equipment faults.
- Support other sections, deep cleaning, closing checklists, and learning new dishes and techniques.
- Follow instructions from the Head Chef, Sous Chef, and Chef de Partie.
Food safety and hygiene
- Follow Dubai Municipality food safety rules and Kira's HACCP plan and record required temperatures.
- Prevent cross-contamination, follow station allergen procedures, and comply with handwashing, uniform, hat, and glove practices.
- Report illness before the shift.
Candidate requirements
- Culinary school certificate or equivalent hands-on kitchen training and at least one year as a commis or kitchen helper in a restaurant or hotel.
- Solid knife skills and knowledge of basic cooking methods, sauces, and stocks; good spoken English.
- Able to stand through long shifts, lift up to 20 kg, work under pressure, and work evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
- UAE or GCC fine-dining experience and a Dubai Municipality food hygiene certificate are preferred.
- Punctuality, discipline, eagerness to learn, and teamwork are expected.
