Role Description The General Manager role is a part-time, remote position responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations and supporting the strategic direction of Difference She Makes.

This role will coordinate projects, manage timelines, and ensure smooth execution of campaigns and programs across multiple countries.

The General Manager will oversee financial and resource planning, support fundraising and partnerships, and maintain clear reporting and documentation.

They will collaborate closely with founders, advisors, and partners to align activities with the organization’s mission and impact goals.

The role also involves managing communications workflows, supporting content and outreach initiatives, and ensuring compliant, ethical, and efficient organizational practices.

Qualifications

  • Strong leadership, organizational, and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize, set timelines, and coordinate multiple workstreams in a remote environment.
  • Experience in operations, budgeting, and basic financial management, including planning, tracking expenses, and supporting resource allocation.
  • Skills in stakeholder engagement and partnership development, including collaborating with diverse partners, networks, and communities across different countries or regions.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare reports, presentations, and documentation for internal and external audiences.
  • Background or strong interest in gender equity, justice reform, human rights, or related social impact fields, ideally with experience in African or Global South contexts.
  • Comfort with digital tools and remote collaboration platforms (e.g., email, video conferencing, shared documents, and project management software).
  • Proactive, self-directed working style with sound judgment, discretion, and a commitment to inclusive, non-discriminatory practices.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in management, law, social sciences, public policy, nonprofit management, or a related field is preferred.
