The General Accountant handles daily accounting transactions, maintains accurate financial records, and supports the Finance Manager with the company's financial operations.
Qualifications and skills
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- The posting gives 2–4 years of accounting experience in the qualifications and separately lists 4 years as a General Accountant as required.
- Native Arabic is required; the candidate must be located in Dubai.
- Knowledge of bookkeeping, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliation.
- Knowledge of UAE VAT requirements.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software; Odoo experience is preferred.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, organization, and confidentiality.
Responsibilities
- Handle daily accounting transactions and maintain accurate financial records.
- Record transactions in Odoo and maintain organized accounting records.
- Prepare supplier invoices, payment requests, customer receipts, and company expense records.
- Track supplier payment deadlines and update payment tracking sheets.
- Reconcile supplier accounts, customer balances, bank statements, and booking-related transactions.
- Ensure payments and expenses have supporting documents and are allocated to the correct booking or file.
- Monitor outstanding customer payments and supplier balances; record approved refunds and credit notes.
- Assist with monthly financial reports and account reconciliations.
- Maintain invoice, receipt, payment, and other financial documents.
- Coordinate with Operations, Sales, and Reservations to resolve accounting discrepancies.
- Assist with VAT documentation and audit requirements.
- Follow accounting procedures, approval workflows, and confidentiality policies; report errors, missing documents, and payment discrepancies to the Finance Manager.
