Engineer - Team Leader

Role and location

Maintenance and repairs

• Respond to guest repair requests and communicate with guests to resolve maintenance issues.
• Perform preventive maintenance and inspect tools, equipment, and machines.
• Identify and operate equipment and building utility shut-off valves; maintain inventory and requisition supplies.
• Perform complex property, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, HVAC, refrigeration, and pool-heater repairs with little or no supervision.
• Inspect the property for hazards, poor illumination, and failed equipment, and take corrective action.
• Diagnose and repair appliances, boilers, pumps, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and related equipment.

Operations, safety, and team support

• Communicate daily activities and problems to other shifts using approved programs and standards.
• Use Lockout/Tagout before maintenance and follow company safety and security procedures.
• Use engineering software for preventive maintenance and energy management and troubleshoot hotel MEP systems.
• Train and mentor engineers, supervise work in progress, and act in a supervisory role when supervisors or management are absent.
• Perform Engineer on Duty responsibilities, including readings and rounds.
• Report maintenance issues, hazards, accidents, or injuries; complete safety training and store flammable materials properly.

Required qualifications

• Valid driver's license.
• License or certification in refrigeration or electrical, earned or currently in progress.
• Universal Chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) certification.
• Must meet applicable state and federal certification or licensing requirements.
• Journeyman-level expertise in at least three listed trades and basic skills in the remaining areas.

Preferred qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is preferred.
• A two-year technical diploma in HVAC or refrigeration is preferred.
• Extensive general maintenance, advanced repair, electrical or refrigeration, or surface preparation and painting experience is preferred.
• At least 2 years of hotel engineering or maintenance experience is preferred.

Work expectations

• The position involves lifting and carrying items, using stairs, ramps, and ladders, and bending, reaching, and moving objects.
• Communicate professionally with guests and colleagues, maintain confidentiality, protect company assets, and meet quality standards.
