Job purpose
Source, purchase, and coordinate electrical equipment and components for power-distribution and substation projects.
Ensure timely procurement, competitive pricing, and compliance with project specifications.
Key responsibilities
- Procure electrical materials for substation, protection, control, and automation projects.
- Source and negotiate with suppliers, manufacturers, and distributors; develop and maintain OEM and supplier relationships.
- Review RFQs, BOQs, specifications, and technical requirements; issue RFQs, evaluate quotations, and prepare comparison sheets.
- Coordinate requirements with engineering, estimation, and project teams; prepare and manage purchase orders.
- Track deliveries to ensure materials are available on time.
- Ensure purchases meet project specifications and client requirements; identify alternative suppliers and cost-saving opportunities.
Products and systems
- Protection relays, including Siemens, ABB, Schneider, GE, and SEL; control and relay panels.
- Remote Terminal Units (RTUs), SCADA, PLC, HMI, and substation automation systems.
- MV/LV switchgear components; instrument transformers (CTs and PTs); power supplies.
- Industrial networking equipment, control cables, and termination accessories.
- Solar PV panels, inverters, mounting structures, DC/AC cables, combiner boxes, and related accessories.
Education and experience
- Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Procurement experience in electrical, substation, power-distribution, automation, or control-system projects.
- Experience procuring Protection & Control equipment and Solar PV components.
- Experience sourcing for renewable-energy, power-distribution, protection-and-control, and automation projects and working with relevant OEMs and suppliers.
Preferred experience
- UAE/GCC experience is preferred.
