EHS Engineer

Role overview

Key responsibilities

• Implement and monitor the project EHS Management System according to company, client, and statutory requirements.
• Conduct site inspections, safety audits, and compliance checks across road construction activities.
• Identify hazards and ensure risk assessments and mitigation measures are implemented.
• Prepare and review Job Safety Analyses, risk assessments, and method statements for construction activities.
• Monitor safety compliance for excavation, earthworks, roadworks, lifting, temporary works, traffic management, and utility work.
• Ensure compliance with UAE/Dubai EHS regulations and coordinate traffic management and road safety in construction zones.
• Investigate incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions; assist with root-cause analyses and corrective action reports.
• Conduct toolbox talks, safety inductions, and EHS awareness and training for employees and subcontractors.
• Monitor PPE and safe work practices; coordinate subcontractor compliance with project EHS requirements.
• Maintain EHS records, permits, and reports; support emergency drills and response procedures.
• Monitor environmental aspects including waste, dust, noise, spills, and other construction impacts.
• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly EHS performance reports; support project EHS objectives and a proactive safety culture.

Required qualifications and experience

• Bachelor's degree or diploma in engineering, environmental science, occupational health and safety, or a relevant discipline.
• 5–10 years of relevant EHS or safety experience.
• Strong knowledge of construction safety practices, risk assessment, and incident investigation.
• Knowledge of Dubai/UAE EHS regulations and authority requirements.
• Good communication, coordination, and reporting skills.

Preferred experience and credentials

• Relevant health and safety/EHS professional certification is advantageous.
• EPC, infrastructure, roads, highways, or civil construction experience is preferred.
• Large-scale UAE/GCC construction or infrastructure experience is preferred.
• Roads, highways, infrastructure, utilities, or major civil/EPC project experience in Dubai/UAE is preferred.
• Valid UAE/GCC experience and relevant EHS certifications are advantageous.
