Role overview

Qualifications and experience

• B.E. or B.Tech. in Electrical or Electrical & Electronics Engineering; minimum qualification is also listed as Bachelor of Electrical Engineering.
• Requires 10–12 years of experience in primary engineering design for substations or power distribution projects.
• The posting separately lists required experience as 10–11 years.

Design, review, and delivery

• Review and execute primary engineering activities for AIS/GIS substation projects.
• Review engineering documents prepared by the remote India office and assign them for local language translation and compliance with local standards.
• Deliver engineering drawings and documents on time and in alignment with the project schedule.
• Obtain spatial requirements and cut-out/opening details from the Secondary Design Lead and incorporate them into drawings.
• Review primary drawings and design/sizing calculations prepared by Design Engineers and Draughtspersons, and obtain client approvals.
• Review vendor deliverables related to primary engineering.
• Review equipment layouts, cable routing and tray, earthing, lighting, and lightning protection layouts for construction suitability.
• Support the secondary team in reviewing vendor drawings.
• Submit man-hour requirements for design and drawing work and reviews.

Coordination and project support

• Coordinate with the Uzbekistan-based contractor on construction and support resolution of construction issues.
• Coordinate with ACWA and NEGU to obtain drawing approvals for construction activities.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary checks with electrical, civil/structural, MEP, mechanical, and instrumentation teams.
• Support site execution teams with design clarifications and resolve questions about design and client requirements.
• Evaluate vendors against client technical specifications and forward validation documents to Supply Chain Management.
• Inspect equipment from finalized vendors after vendor validation.
• Collect plot, feeder arrangement, and other project inputs from the client and Project Engineering Manager.
• Collect General Arrangement Drawing inputs from vendors and coordinate design specifications with Operations for approval.

Technical expertise

• Knowledge of substation equipment layouts, primary engineering, and associated calculations.
• Understanding of single-line diagrams, layout engineering, earthing, cable routing, lighting, lightning protection, and cable tray routing.
• Ability to calculate and size busbar, UPS, DG, LT transformers, and earthing conductors, including short-circuit force, sag tension, and CCC calculations.
• Knowledge of national and international codes and standards.
• Ability to interpret contractual technical requirements and support project teams.
• Understanding of civil and structural, mechanical, and instrumentation design aspects related to electrical equipment.
• General awareness of Dialux and MS Office; awareness of ETAP, PSCAD, and CYMGRD is desirable.
