Role and team

Data strategy and platform

• Translate the data strategy into a phased roadmap with measurable outcomes and report progress and risks.
• Manage platform environments, security, reliability, operations, and transitions without disrupting reporting.
• Own lakehouse architecture, medallion layers, and reusable ingestion and transformation patterns.
• Plan system onboarding and connect construction value-chain data into governed products and single-project views.

Governance, products, and leadership

• Establish governance, security, compliance, ownership, data quality, cataloguing, lineage, and access practices.
• Define master data standards for project, partner, and cost information.
• Lead and develop data engineers, set priorities, manage delivery, and review quality.
• Oversee data products, data marts, and Power BI semantic models; drive adoption and data literacy.
• Design a governed knowledge layer using retrieval-augmented generation, semantic search, vector embeddings, and knowledge graphs.
• Measure platform value and manage capacity, licensing, vendors, and delivery partners.
• Work with business leaders, IT, and enterprise architecture to prioritize use cases and agree ownership.

Experience and technical requirements

• Degree in an appropriate discipline or equivalent demonstrated experience; 10+ years of experience.
• Strong hands-on Python and PySpark experience and a background in data engineering or architecture.
• Experience leading a data function, platform, or engineering team, including line management.
• Knowledge of lakehouse and warehouse design, medallion architecture, ELT, orchestration, and multi-source integration.
• Experience managing at least one major cloud data platform, such as Microsoft Fabric, Azure, Databricks, or AWS.
• Knowledge of governance, security, data quality, cataloguing, lineage, and master data management.
• Enterprise BI and analytics experience using Power BI or similar, including semantic modelling and self-service enablement.
• Knowledge of retrieval-augmented generation, semantic search, embeddings, knowledge graphs, grounding, and enterprise AI services.
• Experience with platform value measurement, capacity planning, and vendor management.
• Strong stakeholder communication and presentation skills; able to plan workstreams and engage senior leaders.

Additional experience

• Experience with platform transitions, migrations, or proofs of concept.
• Familiarity with Foundry IQ, Azure AI Search, or similar knowledge services.
• Construction, engineering, project-based, or multi-subsidiary group experience is relevant.
• Experience with ERP, project controls, or construction technology data is relevant.
• Certifications in data architecture, governance, analytics, or a major cloud platform are an advantage.
