Role overview

Data Analyst role on a collaborative technology and data team supporting a complex operational environment in Ottawa.

Described as junior-to-mid-level, stakeholder-facing work reporting to a senior technology leader and collaborating with a Data Architect.

On-site in Ottawa, Ontario; 40 hours per week, eight hours per day; start ASAP.

Responsibilities

  • Design and maintain Power BI dashboards, reports, visualizations, and metrics for operational and executive audiences.
  • Optimize SQL queries; build dimensional and semantic models; develop Microsoft Fabric Lakehouse and Warehouse solutions.
  • Integrate data from APIs, JSON, file exchanges, relational databases, and other structured or semi-structured sources.
  • Use Python/Pandas for preparation, automation, and analysis; translate stakeholder requirements into analytical solutions.
  • Communicate actionable insights and support data quality, documentation, governance, privacy, security, and reporting automation.
  • Collaborate with technical teams, business stakeholders, and external vendors.

Requirements

  • Related post-secondary degree or diploma, or equivalent education and experience.
  • At least three years in data analysis, BI, reporting, or a related analytical role, including at least three years developing Power BI reports and dashboards.
  • Strong SQL, dimensional modeling, Python/Pandas, data integration, and experience with Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Services, or comparable cloud analytics platforms.
  • Ability to analyze complex data, translate business requirements, and present findings clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong communication and listening skills; comfortable working directly with business users and stakeholders.
  • Eligible to successfully complete required background and security screening.

Assets

  • Microsoft Fabric Analytics Engineer Associate or Power BI Data Analyst Associate certification.
  • Tableau; Qlik, Looker, SSRS, or advanced Excel; Snowflake, AWS, or GCP.
  • Aviation, transportation, or other complex 24/7 operational environment; governance, privacy, and information security knowledge.
  • English and French communication is an asset.
